COVID 19 Virus Update-1/13/21

January 13, 2021

Residents, Families and Partners,

Many of you may be aware of the current surge in COVID cases in our state and in the country at large.

We have been doing weekly mass testing of staff.  We recently learned that one of our staff members tested positive, and this staff person is currently quarantining at home and their return-to-work date will be determined following CDC and local health department guidelines.  We currently have no other positive staff members.

Given this recent positive staff member and the current surge, we made the decision to mass test our residents as well.  As a result of this testing, we have learned that we have 4 positive residents, all in our Memory Care Unit in our Community.

We are currently quarantining all positive residents from other residents, and they will be receiving cares from dedicated staff using heightened infection control protocols.

As a result of these new positive case, we are taking the following additional precautions in Memory Care:

  • All group activities will be suspended;
  • All communal dining will be stopped, and meals will be delivered to resident rooms with some exceptions for residents that need additional observation or assistance with dining;

In Assisted Living, we currently have no positive residents, so group activities will continue with appropriate masking and social distancing.

We are awaiting information on when vaccines will be available for our residents and staff.  Please remember that even after the initial vaccine, the benefits of the vaccine will not be realized until some time after the second dose which occurs 21-28 days after the first dose.  We will provide more information once we have it.

We strongly encourage all residents (and ask families to encourage residents) to:

  • Wear masks when outside of your room/unit;
  • Engage in more frequent hand washing/sanitizing;
  • Engage in good social distancing when outside of your room/unit; and
  • Do not take or greatly limit any trips off the Community’s campus.

Our monitoring of residents and staff for signs and symptoms and our infection control protocols continue.

If things change in the community, we will provide you with further updates.  As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Garrett Jones
Executive Director
